An Adventure of the Curve Carpool Girls
Sunday night we got a quick very cold storm. There was close striking thunder and
lighting, rain and wind. In the morning
we awoke to snow. Leland told me not to
try to walk up the drive way that was now covered with black ice so he drove me
over to my next door neighbour to catch my 7:10 am ride to Curves. Camille came with her husband’s big new 4
wheel drive truck and turned into Karen’s drive. She started to back out and
slipped west where there is a drop off. (Karens's drive slopes to the west a little bit).
I yelled , “Stop!”
After several tries and a lot of lot of slippery and scary manoeuvring Camille finally safely backed out onto the road. New problem, we needed to get into the truck.
. Sherrill, one of the ladies, (who has a
knee replacement) started to walk on the
road, She stated sliding on the black ice. I told her to
stand still (as she was flailing her arms trying to keep
her balance). Fortunately Karen was still standing
on safe soft snow and could reach over and gave her a hand and all was well. Hanging on to the truck we got into the truck and went to Curves. The road and driveways we not much better when we came home. Poor Camille didn't want to turn the big
truck around so she stopped at my
house. Again hanging on the the truck we got to soft snow. Karen and Sherril used the crack between the cement and asphalt road at the top of my driveway to walk across. I am sure that if someone was watching our antics would be hilarious. I walked down to my house on the lawn that just had a little ice on it. and down the steep hill and Cherry’s curve. She slipped some and arrived home safely.
I think now we should have all stayed home.
Our discussion this morning was on dress standards
