SHE HAS A BIG WORLD TO CONQUER
Our two year old great grand daughter, Monroe Daniel, was born in December 2010. She has a genetic disorder called " Esbobar Chromosome Disorder". The genetic disorder causes shortened limbs, twisted limbs, incomplete joints, breathing, eating and many other problems. Monroe is alive because her mother Nicole bravely rejected three different times the offer by doctors to provide an abortion.
" I am going to give her life!!".
Before Monroe was born Nicole found a nationwide support group for parents of AMC children. Through them Nicole found Dr. Von Bosse at the Philidelphia Shriner's Hospital. He specializes in children with joint problems and states he wants every child to reach their full potential. The first thing he did was to "flatten" her feet. They went every two weeks for new little casts. When Monroe was a year old he surgerically readjusted the femur bones to properly fit into her hip sockets so she could sit and crawl and walk. When she is four he will adjust her knees that have some missing parts. ( I am glad that Leland's dad gave a lot of money to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in Los Angeles). They were transported from South Carolina to Philidelphia. for treatments and surgeries by Angel Flight Angel Flight is staffed by volunteer retired pilots. The Ronald MacDonald's house provides them housing.
Nicole vowed that her daughter would walk.
There have been many life threatening problems, multiple surgeries, and much pain for Monroe to go through. She will need more surgeries. Her mother has heroically gone through the many worries and sleepless nights alone because Monroe's father left very soon after Monroe was born. He has made the divorce difficult. Nicole has taken her maiden name back to Finley.
Nicole is teaching Monroe to pray. Here is the first prayer, Nicole wrote: "I helped Monroe pray this morning for my boss's dog. I asked her to say: dear god please help puppy. Amen.
Her translation? God. Please puppy. Amen."
Nicole wrote, " I hope the Lord understands what she was supposed to say because we don't need another dog!"
A little boy named Reese who lives in Oklahoma out grew his walker and sent it to Monroe to use. Thank you, Reese.
Nicole vowed that her daughter would walk.
She is now saying, "My daughter is walking!!
God is good. His Mercy endureth forever.
God is good. His mercy is new every morning.
